All of a 30 second walk from our hotel (less if you're not picky about dropping out of a window) was the Policeman's Creek Boardwalk. Located fairly central in Canmore, it offered some lovely views of the mountains surrounding the town, with fewer houses to fill the frame.

This bridge over the creek, pointing towards the peaks beyond, felt like an invitation to the wilds.

Which was odd as it was 2 minutes from a Tim Hortons.
